In Memory Of...

It is with love and pride that we honor our loved ones who fought this disease so valiantly. Each has a special place in our hearts, and each adds to our conviction that this disease must whisper no longer.

The passages were written by Members in loving memory of special friends. If you have a contribution for this page, please email us at sharon@duffyplasticsurgery.com.

Malee J.

"Every person that had the pleasure of knowing her was touched by her generous spirit and caring nature. She always put others above herself no matter what her challenges were in her own life. Malee will be remembered for her sweet smile and contagious laugh, her brave attitude and the love in her heart. She leaves behind her lovely family: husband, Jerry; son, Eric; and daughter, Amy. We'll miss you, Malee."

Elizabeth G.

In addition to being a strong supporter of the NOCC, Elizabeth, who also fought breast cancer, founded the Hispanics For the Cure. With her warmth and generous spirit, which is carried on by her family and friends, Elizabeth truly made a difference in the lives around her.

Julie F.

Julie served on the NOCC board for almost two years as Members Chairperson and was an integral member of our Walk For The Whisper team. Julie was interested in seeing an early detection test for ovarian cancer and believed that education and awareness of ovarian cancer would be the stimulus for more research. She wanted her life work to make a difference for her own daughter and all women. She is survived by her husband and three children.

Diann P.

Diann was a member of the DFW Chapter of the NOCC and continued to remain in contact even after she moved to Maine to be near her daughter. Once she arrived in Maine, where there was not yet an NOCC chapter, she went right to work setting up a chapter there with her usual energy and enthusiasm. At one time Diann wrote "I love life more than I ever have in the past. While cancer is not in and of itself a good thing...so much good has come from the fact that I was diagnosed iwth cancer. I'm grateful for the many blessings in my life, more than ever and want to make a difference for others who are living with this disease as well." Colleen W.

Colleen's fight with ovarian cancer wasn't always easy but she made the very most of every moment during the 7.5 years since her diagnosis. She was an amazing person and lived on her terms until the very end with her family at her side and free from pain or regret. She was an active member of the DFW NOCC and was an inspiration to many of us. She will be greatly missed by her family and the NOCC.

Lee Anne O.

"Deaf since birth my daughter, Lee Anne not, only had to fight the misunderstanding of hearing healthcare professionals in regards to her hearing loss but also the inadequate staffing of a small county hospital in regard to diagnosis and care. After six days she was transferred to Ft Worth and diagnosed (Stage III ovarian cancer) where she fought stubbornly and remained alert and conscious of her goals throughout the six months right up to the moment I signed "I love you" and she smiled as she left her body. We must do better. We must not forget." Helen, Lee Anne's mother.

Rani S.

Rani will always be remembered for her kindness, strength, and positive attitude. She was proud to be a Reiki master and montessori teacher and helped so many. She fought ovarian cancer bravely for 3 years. She passed away on May 21, 2007. She is missed so much by her family.

"She was diagnosed in September, 1993, and passed on June 29, 2005. Her devotion to her faith and her family never faltered. She never once felt sorry for herself and bravely faced the challenge of cancer. I will never forget her last day...I continually told her "I love you" and her response was always "I love you too". she was not only my mother, she was my best friend." Caroline

Kerry

"Memories of my daughter span from the day she was born, her childhood years, her marriage to a wonderful husband, three lovely children/grandchildren, and the day she was diagnosed with small cell Ovarian Cancer.

Kerry fought bravely for a year and four days, never giving up hope of finding a cure. She inspired all who met her, and always, always her ever present smile. I miss you and love you so much, Kerry. I close my eyes and see your smile." Love, Mum

Colleen W.

"Between the earth and sky above, nothing can match a mother's and grandmother's love. She was always ready with a smile or a loving word of praise, her laughter always brightened up the cloudiest of days, and she had an understanding heart that encouraged and cheered. The love she gave so freely will always grow deeper with us over the years. Nothing could be more precious than a Mother's and Grandmother's special love. She will always be in our hearts and she will be very missed." Love, Joan

Bonnie H.

July 18, 1947 - July 26, 2007 "A true spirit of FUN and CONSIDERATION. She marked peoples lives with her smile and smart wit. We miss her and her generosity. Every day. Her mark on this world is solid and her sweet and beautiful dog Beau is here to remind us. Every day."

She was a delight to be around and brought joy to everyone she met. She was my life long partner for 30 years and I will miss her more than cheek and tongue can say. I love you, baby." Wayne

Alta P.

"Our beautiful daughter, Alta, spread love everywhere she went, home, family, friends, and community. She never let anyone leave without feeling better or happier. God looked at his garden and saw an empty space, he then looked from heaven and saw your smiling face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful, for he only takes the best. You haven't really gone away, you walk beside us every day, unheard, unseen, but always there, still loved, still missed, because we care. Alta, we miss you every single minute of every day." Mom and Dad

Pat K.

"Loving Grandma who enjoyed life and will be dearly missed!"
